"St Luke's Church, which is to be built in Pinfold Street, is not yet commenced, though for nearly two years about £5000 has been at the disposal of the committee for the erection of it and the Parsonage House and School. It is expected that the church will be erected in 1851, and for the present divine service is performed by the vicar of St Luke's District Parish, in a temporary wooden church, in Coseley Street.[From History, Gazetteer and Directory of Staffordshire, William White, Sheffield, 1851]
The living is a vicarage, in the patronage of the Crown and the Bishop of Lichfield alternately, and incumbency of the Rev RJ Heathfield, MA."
